Company foundation in Switzerland: the key points at a glance
Signing contracts

Switzerland is one of the world's most popular company locations. The conditions are ideal: Switzerland claimed first place by a wide margin in the European country rankings for location factors. It achieved top marks in the categories of financing, political environment, regulation, and physical infrastructure. In second-place is Germany which fared much worse: the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor rated the financing options in Germany with a three, the political environment for company start-ups with a seven, regulation with a five, and the infrastructure with a seven. Aside from Germany, the conditions were also declared worse for entrepreneurs in Finland, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, and in Great Britain. All trailing behind Switzerland.

The number of new companies confirms this positive image: more than 40,000 new companies were entered into the commercial register in 2014 alone, of which over a third constitute foreign investors. If all requirements are met, a company can be formed within two to three weeks. For an additional fee, an express procedure enables a company to enter the commercial register within about five days.
