Swiss Business Hub Russia Held Its Annual Reception in Moscow
On February 8, 2017, the Swiss Business Hub Russia held its traditional Annual Reception in the Metropol Hotel in Moscow which was attended by more than 400 guests, including representatives of the Swiss business community in Russia as well as of Russian companies collaborating with Switzerland. The guests were greeted by the new Ambassador of Switzerland to the Russian Federation, Mr. Yves Rossier, and the Head of the Swiss Business Hub Russia, Mr. Yves Morath. Besides, during the evening, the future Head of Swiss Business Hub Russia, Mr. Lorenz Widmer Schlaufer, who takes the office in August 2017, was introduced to the audience.
Addressing the guests, Ambassador Rossier emphasized that he is glad to see such a large number of Swiss companies operating in the Russian market and believes it is important to increase the volume of Swiss investments in Russia. The 56-year-old diplomat with background in law has arrived to Russia just recently. After his function as Director of the Swiss Federal Social Insurance Office, he served during the last four years as State Secretary in the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. In this position, Mr. Rossier has visited Russia several times.
The Head of the Swiss Business Hub Russia, Yves Morath, emphasized that the SBH successfully organized and managed for the first time a Swiss Pavilion at the International exhibition of equipment, raw materials and ingredients for pharmaceutical manufacturing “Pharmtech & Ingredients” in Moscow. Mr. Morath introduced his team to the audience and thanked all the team members for their work. He also announced the expected change in the SBH management: in summer 2017, Lorenz Widmer Schlaufer will become the head of SBH Russia, and Yves Morath will lead the Swiss Business Hub China.
The Swiss Business Hub Russia, an official entity of the Embassy of Switzerland in Russia, provides information and consultancy support to Swiss and Russian companies. The Swiss Business Hub Russia helps Swiss-based companies to expand their presence on the Russian market, while Russian companies wishing to start operations in Switzerland can get advice about opening and running business in the country.
The evening continued with an entertainment program, including a photo shoot, a cocktail bar, live jazz, dance music and a raffle. The reception was hosted with the support of Nespresso, Lindt, Swiss, Allianz, Vaud Lake Geneva Region and Mövenpick.
