How would Europe respond to a major cyberattack? In Geneva, students from all over the world will compete in developing security policy recommendations tackling a fictional cyber catastrophe. They will act as policy advisors on matters of defense and security, diplomacy and law, counterterrorism and intelligence, while an international panel of cybersecurity experts will determine the viability of their policy decisions.
Hosted by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) and the Atlantic Council, the 9/12 Cyber Student Challenge is the only student competition devoted to high-level policy recommendations for day-after responses to a major cyber incident. It is a key opportunity for students to interact with expert mentors and prominent cyber professionals while developing valuable skills in policy analysis. “There is nothing more important than training our future leaders to address the cybersecurity challenges of the future”, said Aapo Cederberg, Cyber 9/12 host. The event is also a showcase for the latest product innovations, as well as an occasion to identify the international cyber industry's top talents. Registration for all participants – competitors, coaches, judges, observers – is open until March 5th.
