Software for online commerce

Researchers at Lucerne’s University of Applied Sciences have developed software for e-commerce that clients can use to influence their search for products based on their preferences.

When clients start searching online for an apartment, clothes or a car, their requirements do not usually match the search software’s queries. Until now, online platforms did not show the car that was a perfect match for the requirements, but was a bit more expensive, or a cheaper apartment just outside the neighbourhood specified. The new software will change this and match the client’s choice criteria to an improved degree.

The project is based on collaboration with Lucerne web service provider Arcmedia, which will continue to perfect the user interface until autumn 2017. The Lucerne University team has almost completed a further portion of the work on the algorithm. After the fine-tuning phase, the software will be ready for use.
