Ticketfrog expands in ticketing market

The Olten-based start-up Ticketfrog has acquired the ticketing activities of its competitor Instahive and is integrating them into its own platform. The move strengthens its position in the advanced sales market for small to medium-sized events.

Advanced sales on popular platforms is often not worthwhile for many small and medium-sized events because of the high fees involved, explains Ticketfrog in a statement. This is why the Olten-based start-up offers its services free of charge to ticket buyers and organisers alike, and even assumes the credit card charges.

The online platform for ticket sales is instead financed through advertisements in the form of vouchers. The vendor chooses the advertisement based on the type of event. Vouchers are regarded as an attractive form of advertisement because redeeming them encourages the user to make a purchase and their effect is measureable.

Ticketfrog has now announced that it has acquired the ticketing activities of its Zurich competitor Instahive, enabling it to now work together with partners such as the Baur au Lac hotel, the Exil club or the Zurich Congress House.

“The speed at which Ticketfrog has developed since the day it was launched as well as its innovative capacity are impressive. We’re convinced that their technology in this highly competitive market will set new trends,” said Marco Samà, chairman of the board of Instahive AG.

Ticketfrog was founded in summer 2016 and succeeded in completing a first round of financing shortly thereafter. Since then, over 50,000 tickets have been offered on the platform each month. Ticketfrog was awarded the innovation prize InnoPrix Baloise Soba 2016 for its business idea.
