On Monday, the foundation stone for the QUBO in Sarnen in the canton of Obwalden was laid. This marked the beginning of the construction work for two interconnected buildings. On the one hand, Eberli AG is expanding its existing headquarters at the site, while on the other, the Cantonal Bank of Obwalden (OKB) will be constructing a new building entirely. This will primarily offer space to the association Startup Pilatus, which supports start-ups in their efforts to establish their business in Obwalden. Both buildings will be connected via a central entrance to create a single unit, the OKB writes in a press release.
“A new, vibrant workplace in the form of QUBO is being built in Sarnen”, comments CEO of OKB Bruno Thürig in the press release. “It will offer space for new concepts and ideas, where the digital working world can be brought to life as well as places like New York”, he adds.
Accordingly, co-working areas, open spaces and various meeting rooms will also be included in the new building. The OKB has even drawn up plans to set up a room as a creative lab, which will also be available for external companies to use.
The redesign of the office space also enables Eberli AG to “work in a contemporary and efficient manner”, says CEO Alain Grossenbacher. In addition to Eberli AG, the future co-owner of the building, Orfida Treuhand + Revisions AG, and werkunion ag will also be based on site. The latter owns architekturwerk ag, which is responsible for the design of the QUBO.
