Maxon wins medtech award in the USA

Maxon has emerged victorious in the category of Motion Control for the 2021 Leadership in Medtech competition held by the trade journal Medical Design & Outsourcing. The Obwalden-based specialist in the area of high precision electric drive systems develops applications for the industrial, medtech, robotics and aerospace sectors.

Maxon has emerged victorious in the category of Motion Control for the 2021 Leadership in Medtech competition. The specialist for high precision electric drive systems announced this news on the professional networking platform LinkedIn. The competition is held on an annual basis by the bi-monthly North American trade journal Medical Design & Outsourcing, with readers voting to decide the winners.

The company, which is based in Sachseln in the canton of Obwalden, combines electric motors, gears and DC motor controllers to create high-precision, intelligent mechatronic drive systems. According to information on Maxon’s dedicated LinkedIn page, these can be tailored to the specific requirements of its customers’ applications. The products are deployed “wherever extreme precision and the highest quality standards are necessary and where compromises cannot be tolerated – on Earth, and on Mars”.

Accordingly, the company is active in markets such as industrial automation, medical technology, robotics and aerospace. Its modular system includes epicyclic, spur and special gears as well as encoders and control electronics.

Maxon was founded in 1961 and now operates a total of nine production sites and employs around 3,000 staff.
