Strongly rooted in its country of origin, Nestlé runs 11 production centers and four research and development sites in Switzerland.

To support its international development and to meet the growing consumer demand for its high-quality premium coffees, Nespresso has announced a new investment of CHF 117 million to expand its production site in Avenches. This investment will be used to build three new production lines, expand the logistics center and create 50 new jobs.

"This investment illustrates the long-term sustainable approach of our company," said Guillaume Le Cunff, CEO of Nespresso. "All Nespresso coffees sold worldwide are produced in Switzerland. In the last eight months, we have announced a total investment of CHF 270 million in our two production centers in Romont and Avenches. We are very proud to be able to continue to invest in Switzerland and support our economy, especially in these difficult times.

The expansion of the distribution center is expected to begin in July 2021 and be fully operational by September 2022. The three new production lines are expected to be operational by March 2022.

This new expansion of Nespresso in Western Switzerland follows the CHF 160 million investment announced in July 2020 for the expansion of the brand's production site in Romont, which will result in the creation of nearly 300 new jobs over the next 10 years.

A positive impact on the local economy

In addition to the ongoing investments in its operations, Nespresso has invested CHF 700 million in its three Swiss-based production centers in the cantons of Vaud and Fribourg over the past 10 years.

In 2020, and despite the pandemic situation, Nespresso has recruited more than 150 new employees for its three production sites in Switzerland.
