One keyword is e-commerce: In Europe alone, more than 290 million people make purchases online every day. This is a way for companies to open up new customers and new markets. E-commerce is also of great importance in Asia. In South Korea, for example, online commerce has already outperformed conventional trade.
“Digitization paves the way for Swiss SMEs’ global growth"
In order for Swiss SMEs to successfully sell their products and services via e-commerce, various clarifications must first be made: which countries are suitable for digital sales, which legal aspects have to be considered and which platforms are available? Swiss and Liechtenstein SMEs can get answers to these questions in a non-binding consultation session with Switzerland Global Enterprise. Additional information
Digital support for SMEs
In addition to these consultations, S-GE also offers SMEs digital tools that will drive their export projects.
Together with Google Switzerland, S-GE has set up the “Export Digital” platform. This tool is available free of charge at any time. SMEs can query which terms are searched for on Google in which countries and whether the search queries change depending on the region or season. Go to “Export Digital”
At the same time, S-GE provides an online customs database. It enables SMEs to inquire about customs tariffs and thus import duties for more than 150 countries: Using the database, companies can also retrieve different nomenclatures, import formalities and the applicable rules of origin – free of charge and unlimited. Especially for cleantech companies, S-GE offers the Cleantech CUBE – a digital business directory where cleantech companies can network with each other, where you can get information about global market opportunities, tenders and events and where you can be found by potential clients from all over the world. First Swiss Digital Day
The first Swiss Digital Day on November 21st took place under the direction of the national initiative digitalswitzerland and in collaboration with over 40 partner organizations – including Switzerland Global Enterprise. The initiative day took place under the patronage of Swiss President Doris Leuthard and Federal Council Representative Johann Schneider-Ammann, in addition to the active participation of Federal Councilor Alain Berset.
S-GE took part in the Digital Day, because we want to convince more exporters to use technology to grow internationally. Technology simplifies market entry in countries near and far. “Digitization paves the way for Swiss SMEs’ global growth,” says Daniel Küng, CEO of Switzerland Global Enterprise. These are the messages that we are sending to the international Swiss economy as part of Digital Day.
