RUAG Aerostructures has expanded its production site in Emmen to house a surface treatment facility. According to a statement, Building 7 now has a surface area of 2,700 square metres. The project involved extending the existing building to house the new surface treatment facility and making changes to the existing building to include a new paint shop. A total 23 million Swiss francs was invested into the building and facilities.

The new surface treatment facility will enable RUAG Aerostructures to produce structural aircraft components up to 7 metres long, 2.3 metres high and 1 metre deep in Emmen. Only a few suppliers in the world are capable of producing components of this size, according to the company.

“The new facility underscores our commitment to be counted among the leading suppliers in Europe as well as worldwide in terms of quality, delivery and productivity,” said Alexander Toussaint, CEO of RUAG Aerostructures.

RUAG has invested millions into its facilities in Lucerne in recent years, including the construction of three production halls since 2010 totalling an investment of 38 million francs.
