Gore is an American technology company that specializes in the development of innovative products across different fields. At its Innovation Center in Silicon Valley, it works with startups and research institutes.
The Gore Innovation Center has now entered a joint development agreement with the startup company Kenzen from the Greater Zurich Area, announced a statement.
With its Kenzen Patch, Kenzen has already developed a device that can be attached to the skin and monitor health data such as body temperature, heart rate and sweat production using different sensors. These data are then analyzed via an app.
The device is designed to help monitor health conditions and identify potential illnesses early. Gore and Kenzen now plan to develop the Kenzen Patch further.
Discomfort and skin irritation are among the biggest challenges for skin-based patch sensors, according to Kenzen CEO and co-founder Sonia Sousa. She added that for sweat analysis, the ability to continuously transport sweat to and away from the sensors is critical. Gore and Kenzen intend to address these issues together.
"Kenzen is the type of startup we wanted to collaborate with when we first imagined creating the Gore Innovation Center," commented Linda Elkins, Gore Innovation Center Co-Leader.
