With the acquisition of SMC Management Contractors SA (SMC SA) in Winterthur, Renggli AG is expanding its business field. The company now has subsidiaries in Germany and Italy.

Renggli International AG, which opened a new office in Switzerland on April 12, will manage the international business.

“International expansion is a logical move for us. We already have high production and specialist competencies in industrial timber construction, as well as the curiosity and innovation necessary to apply our skills abroad,” commented Martin Joos, who has headed Renggli International AG since February.

The former director of SMC SA, Stephan Rickenbach, remains responsible for the company, where he is managing the business development department.

Renggli AG was founded in 1923 and now has 210 employees. A specialist in prefabricated timber constructions, the company has completed projects including Switzerland’s first six-storey wooden building in Steinhausen in the canton of Zug in 2006 and the wooden apartment building, swisswoodhouse, in Nebikon in the canton of Lucerne in 2014.

The company is also a general contractor across Switzerland and, following its latest acquisition, abroad. Its head office and production site are in Schötz in the canton of Lucerne.
