Mitsubishi Electric reported in a press release that it is acquiring ASTES4, which will become a wholly owned subsidiary. The Japanese manufacturer of electronics and electrical equipment is interested in the patented automated sorting solutions for sheet metal laser processing machines of ASTES4. Mitsubishi will be integrating these into its systems. There is great demand for automated solutions in this segment and this is further escalated by the shortage of human resources. According to Mitsubishi Electric, this acquisition will help boost global growth.

With headquarters in Balerna, ASTES4 specialises in industrial automation, mechanical design and software development for automation. It offers solutions for sheet metal working, composite materials processing, heavy industry metal processing and the assembly of magnetic foils for transformers and reactors.

Mitsubishi Electric’s products are used in areas such as information processing and communications, space development and satellite communications, consumer electronics, industrial technology, energy, transportation and building equipment as well as air conditioning and heating technology. The corporation has its headquarters in Tokyo and 142 subsidiaries and offices worldwide. It is a core member of the Mitsubishi Group.
