Building on an ongoing collaboration in trade, this new partnership will strengthen the ties between the trade promotion organisations and their respective countries. DIT and S-GE will offer a seamless value proposition to UK and Swiss as well as Liechtenstein companies expanding globally.
Thomas Foerst, Head of Global Network and Member of the Executive Committee at Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE) said: “S-GE’s constant goal is to offer efficient support to Swiss small and medium sized companies looking to internationalise into new markets. The MoU is a product from this initiative: Swiss exporters and UK investors will get first hand access to information and local support for their internationalisation journey, being supported by our colleagues of DIT. By pulling together all the available resources and networks, the added value to businesses will be maximised. We are looking forward to more collaboration with our great colleagues at DIT both here in Switzerland and also at our Swiss Business Hub UK + Ireland in London.”
Roz Campion, International Strategy Director, UK Department for International Trade, added: “Switzerland remains one of the UK’s top trading partners and I am delighted to sign the MoU on behalf of The Department for International Trade which will be mutually beneficial in enhancing trade promotion between our countries. The UK remains open for business and we look forward to strengthening both our relationship and collaboration with S-GE in the area of outward direct investment.”
Benefit for companies
In the case of a UK company seeking to expand in Switzerland, DIT will provide in market-related commercial support. The administrative and practical steps of setting-up operations (registering and structuring the Swiss entity) will be supported by S-GE. The reverse would be true for a Swiss investor growing their business in the UK. Each organisation will absolutely maintain its own independence, but effective coordination will maximise value for the client.
