Interxion is building a new data center, ZUR2, on its Zurich campus in Glattbrugg, as the company also posted on Twitter. It will be investing a total of 130 million francs in this new build. On completion, the data center will have a net area of 6,600 square meters and an IT capacity of 12 megawatts of power. ZUR2 will also provide “access to more than 40 carriers/ISPs and many cloud providers”. The first customers are expected to move in from 2020.

Interxion already has one data center on its Zurich campus. “Centrally located in Europe, Zurich is very international, both in terms of workforce and the organizations that invest and are based there,” the company writes on its website. “Its business-friendly environment, attractive tax regime and highly educated workforce encourage the world’s financial and technology organizations to thrive.”

Interxion offers cloud and carrier-neutral data center services, operating a total of 50 data centers in Europe.
