SwissLens and Vivior develop personalized contact lenses

SwissLens is joining forces with the start-up Vivior. The aim is to develop personalized contact lenses. To this end, a Vivior device is to be used that is able to deliver objective data on the individual viewing habits of patients.

SwissLens, a contact lens manufacturer based in Western Switzerland, is joining forces with the start-up Vivior from the Greater Zurich Area. According to a press release, the two partners are planning to develop personalized contact lenses. For this, a Vivior device is to be used that is able to record objective data on individual viewing habits of patients. To this end, it collects data on the patients’ daily activities in relation to their viewing behavior. This data is then analyzed in the cloud and processed with the help of Artificial Intelligence.

The objective data collated by the Vivior device should allow SwissLens to manufacture personalized multifocal contact lenses. These should then meet the requirements of patients more effectively than the lenses currently available.

Andreas Kelch, Head of Sales at Vivior, describes the new partnership as a milestone for the start-up. Vivior was founded in 2017 and works with partners aiming to develop personalized glasses, among other enterprises. In October, the technology developed by Vivior received authorization from the US health authorities. The start-up, which is headquartered in Zurich, is now able to expand towards the USA.
