The construction materials firm Sika has invested in its location in the canton of Obwalden, as detailed in a press release. The company has put into operation a new production facility to manufacture the SikaProof building seal membranes in Sarnen. These are used to waterproof basements and cellars.

According to the information available, an innovative, patented sheeting technology is used in production processes. This allows the SikaProof membranes to be produced in a single process at a single location.

On account of urbanization and condensed construction projects, the requirements for waterproofing of basements have become ever more stringent, Sika states. The company is planning to serve rapid growth in market volume by way of the new facility. By 2023, Sika intends to have doubled sales of the SikaProof product family.
