B. Braun’s disinfection competence center is located in Sempach, where research, development and production is conducted in this area. According to a press release, the company now aims to double the production capacity at this site. It is investing around 70 million Swiss francs into a new factory called the N.I.C.O. (New Infection Control Organization).

B. Braun explains that the demand for disinfectants has increased over recent years. This development has now been accelerated by the current coronavirus crisis.

According to Roman Kübler, CEO of B. Braun Switzerland, Sempach is “a very successful site with an excellent infrastructure and loyal, qualified staff.” He stresses that B. Braun is “still confident in Switzerland as a location” with “favorable conditions for employers, a high standard of education and not least political stability” offering “very valuable benefits” for the company in both the short and long term.

Construction work on the new factory is scheduled to start in summer and should take around two years.
