Just under 12 months ago, Kommunalförbundet Svenskt Ambulansflyg (KSA), the Swedish air ambulance service, awarded Pilatus a contract for the delivery of six PC-24 ambulance aircraft, the aircraft manufacturer based in Stans explains in a press release. On July 22, the first of the six PC-24s took off from Buochs Airport for its maiden flight. Pilatus intends to deliver all six planes to KSA this year.
With this successful first flight, Pilatus has achieved an “important milestone” in processing this order, the aircraft manufacturer states further in the press release. In so doing, the company has been at pains to point out that it is still in a position to stick to the “tight production schedule” despite the restrictions arising as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Following this first flight, a series of further test flights of the PC-24 will now initially be conducted, Pilatus says. Before being delivered to Sweden, the PC-24 will be handed over to Aerolite AG. The company, which is headquartered in Ennetbürgen NW, is tasked with handling the installation of the ambulance interior.
