RAD offering new building module for cancer centers

RAD Technology Medical Systems is expanding its portfolio of modular building systems for radiation therapy. The units have been designed for the latest models of linear accelerators. This means that patients can be treated just one month following the start of construction.

The RAD Technology Medical Systems product portfolio is being expanded over the course of 2021 to include three different building configuration options for radiation therapy via linear accelerators (or linacs for short). According to a press release, hospitals and cancer centers should therefore be in a position to set up stations with the latest models for electron and photon irradiation in less than one month.

The modular construction approach and patented granular shielding system offered by the company, which is based in Florida, USA, and Lugano in the canton of Ticino, allow the bunkers to be assembled within the space of a few days. The modules facilitate a variety of building configuration options, from temporary auxiliary bunkers for radiotherapy treatment to complete and permanent radiotherapy units.

“We are excited to expand our portfolio with this new radiotherapy facility that will provide the perfect accommodation for the newest generation of linacs on the market”, comments Kenneth Wright, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at RAD. He adds: “We are looking forward to 2021, and to deploying this new style of bunker and cancer center in Europe and the US”.
