EMS-Chemie invests in Domat/Ems site

EMS-Chemie wants to increase capacity at its Domat/Ems location by 70 percent. To do so, it is investing 300 million Swiss francs over the next five years. Expansion started on Wednesday with the ground-breaking ceremony for a new high-rack warehouse.

EMS-Chemie is planning a substantial expansion. Capacity at its Domat/Ems site is to be expanded by 70 percent over the next few years. Exports make up 95 percent of this. The company is investing 300 million Swiss francs in this and is creating around 50 new positions according to a press release

EMS-Chemie made a start on Wednesday with the ground-breaking ceremony for a new high-rack warehouse. The company is investing 17.5 million Swiss francs in this. EMS-Chemie CEO Magdalena Martullo-Blocher is quoted in the press release, saying: “With the new high-rack warehouse we will achieve rapid expansion of our distribution and storage capacity before the end of this year and continue to supply markets worldwide quickly and flexibly. The project signals the start of considerable expansion investment over the next five years at the Domat/Ems production site.”

Member of the Grisons Government Marcus Caduff welcomes the investments. As Minister for Economic Affairs Caduff, he added in the press release: “The planned and now initiated investment is an important multiplying factor for jobs and added-value in the whole region.” 

Over a third of the investments, amounting to 120 million Swiss francs, are flowing into the region, with a further 60 million Swiss francs going to the rest of Switzerland. EMS-Chemie manufactures high-performance polymers and specialty chemicals.
