In the annual survey by two renowned international trade magazines “Energy Risk” and “Risk.net”, the energy company Axpo has gained top places in 2021 as it has done in previous years. According to a press release, the Aargau-based energy company was voted number three out of the best commodity traders in the world. For years, these rankings have been the most important measure in assessing energy traders. Around 1,500 participants evaluate companies’ products and services according to criteria such as price, innovation, flexibility, market making, reliability and integrity.
Axpo saw success in other rankings as well, as it placed in second for the categories of energy trading, electricity trading, gas trading, and oil trading. The company also received the award for the best analysis department in Europe. In the national rankings for energy trading, Axpo took first place in the UK and in Eastern Europe, second place in Belgium and France, and third place in Germany and Italy. Axpo is in second place worldwide for natural gas trading.
According to the press release, Axpo views this as confirmation of its strategy with a focus on marketing energy from renewable sources in Europe and the USA and expansion of the global supply with the bridging technology of natural gas. Domenico De Luca, Head of Trading and Sales at Axpo, is quoted as saying: “Growing our international presence over the years, today Axpo is active in more than 40 markets in Europe, North America, and Asia.” He goes on to add that Axpo is literally close to its customers in many countries around the world, and that products and services are tailored to their needs. The company opened a new subsidiary in Singapore in 2020 in order to serve the strong growth in the markets for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Asia.
