LCB Sàrl has developed a machine-IT interface for Industry 4.0 in the form of the i4. The company, based in the canton of Jura, will now supply its solution to the HLP Group in France, which awarded the corresponding major contract. The Basel Area Business & Innovation network had a hand in this success story too, with the investment and innovation promotion agency holding a competition – the i4Challenge – for start-ups and SMEs operating the area of Industry 4.0. In 2019, LCB Sàrl ranked among the winners of the competition, earning the chance to present its business model at the trinational Industry 4.0 trade fair (BE4.0), held in Mulhouse, France. This is where the company first came into contact with HLP. “If I hadn’t decided to stop at the HLP stand while walking around the BE4.0 trade fair, none of this would have happened”, says David Maître from LCB, looking back.
The partnership with HLP has even allowed LCB to already gain two new clients. These include a multinational corporation with 43 production sites in the USA, EU and Asia. For LCB, this translated into sales of just under one million euros.
Maître founded LCB Sàrl back in 1997. “We have been building Industry 4.0 for more than 20 years. Except that it wasn’t called that way”, Maître stated in an interview after being named as one of the winning firms of the i4Challenge 2019. His company solves “industry-related technical problems for which the standard solutions do not apply, or when it is necessary to adjust the processes”. With its solutions, LCB Sàrl is aiming to make these networking possibilities available to other companies as well, as can be seen now with the HLP Group from Brognard in France.
