GenomSys’ Variant Analyzer for genomic data receives CE-Mark

GenomSys, a pioneer in the development and adoption of the ISO/IEC 23092 MPEG-G open standard for genomic data, has announced the launch and successful CE-marking of its latest GenomSys Variant Analyzer.

Genomic data DNA
GenomSys developed and led the ISO international standardization of MPEG-G (ISO/IEC-23092), a digital data format for genomic data representation that delivers substantial benefits in terms of efficient compression, interoperability, native protection, and selective access.

GenomSys’ Variant Analyzer is the world’s first product to run natively on MPEG-G, an ISO standard for genomic data representation, for analytical purposes, and directly impact genomic experts in the laboratories to leverage the new genomic standard and its benefits fully.

Combining deep expertise in data compression and computing with life sciences and bioinformatics capabilities, the technology developed by GenomSys allows for efficient processing and sharing of DNA data. In addition, it integrates the variant databases curated by Varsom developed by start-up Saphetor.

In April 2021, the start-up released another product GenomSys MPEG-G Codec Suite, with a different purpose : to transform legacy formats into MPEG-G.

A pioneer in the development of open standards for genomic data

Founded in 2016 by a group of experienced engineers and bio-informaticians, GenomSys has become a pioneer in the development of open standards for genomic data storage and processing, and in the implementation of compliant software and tools for its effective application.

In October 2019, GenomSys secured a CHF9.3 million Series A funding to take the development of the company to the next stage.

GenomSys’ headquarters are located at the Biopôle science park in Lausanne (canton of Vaud), in the heart of the Health Valley, where the company enjoys being active among a vibrant innovation ecosystem, notably with the close presence of the research centers of the EPFL and the Swiss Genome Center.
