Imbach Logistik is building a new Lucerne logistics center in Littauerboden. In August 2020, ground was broken for the new building with a total area of around 30,000sqm. The building shell is now almost complete, as the company based in Schachen in the canton of Lucerne, which is part of Galliker Transport AG, revealed.
Construction is scheduled to end by autumn 2024. Once finished, the new logistics center will employ around 60 members of staff. According to Imbach Logistik, the warehouse will be a fully automated high-rack warehouse with space for 6,500 pallets and a small parts storage system. In the course of the works, Imbach will also demolish the old halls at the site.
Imbach Logistik will secure the energy for the new logistics center from renewable sources. The entire building will be heated and air conditioned through ground water, while the photovoltaic system on the roof will be equipped to provide 950,000 kWh. In total, Imbach Logistik will be investing around 60 million Swiss francs in the project.
Technical building services and conveyor technology for pallets and bins are currently being installed. Initial work for start-up of the small parts storage system has already commenced.
