Embraer plans to develop new technologies in the field of autonomous flight. The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer is collaborating with several startups to do so. According to a press release, Daedalean AG is one such startup that is based in Zurich and develops autonomous pilot software systems for civil aviation. Artificial intelligence is employed for this.

In addition to Daedalean, other companies involved in the project are Near Earth Autonomy, Iris Automation, and Ansys from the USA as well as Motora.ai from Brazil. The aim is said to be collaboration according to the principle of open innovation. The partners will develop, test and evaluate new technologies together, both in a simulation environment and under real flight conditions.

Maurílio Albanese Novaes Júnior, Head of Research & Technology, comments: “We have been working intensely to co-create the aviation of the future in a broader collaboration with key technological partners.” He adds: “We are glad to now have Near Earth Autonomy, Iris Automation and Daedalean contributing with their unique knowledge and experience in autonomous flight, as well as Ansys with its physics-based sensor simulation and expertise, along with Motora.ai, which brings agile and flexible software integration to add value to our development project.”
