Designwerk supplies first electric car transporter

Designwerk from Winterthur has collaborated with Galliker from Altishofen in the canton of Lucerne and Kässbohrer in Germany to build the world’s first fully electric car transporter. In this way, the partners hope to make zero emissions a reality in another segment of the logistics industry.

Designwerk from Winterthur has added a new utility vehicle to its e-truck brand Futuricum: the world’s first fully electric car transporter. The vehicle was developed and built in collaboration with the logistics expert Galliker Transport with headquarters in Altishofen and the German vehicle manufacturer Kässbohrer.

“With the completion of this electric car transporter, we are making a clear statement,” said founder of the Designwerk Group, Tobias Wülser, in a press release. “Electric passenger vehicles can now be delivered to dealerships with zero emissions. Making a further contribution towards sustainable mobility is important to both automotive manufacturers and us.”

The Futuricum car transporter delivers a system performance of 680 hp and has four modular battery packs with capacity totaling 900 kwh. With this, the vehicle will reportedly be able to cover around 450 km on Switzerland’s roads each day. If fast charge is required, the transporter can be charged to 80 percent of the installed battery capacity in just one hour.
