Capsule hotel opened a new capsule hotel on February 12 at Zurich Airport, the hotel company based in Lucerne writes in a press release. The new hotel, which goes by the name of Alpine Garden, is the company’s third capsule hotel after the hotels located in Lucerne and Basel. The capsule hotel at the airport directly opposite Check-in 1 offers 144 sleeping pods across an area of approximately 1,100 square meters. According to the press release, it is the largest hotel of this concept in Europe.
The cost for an overnight stay in one of the lockable, soundproof sleeping pods, which feature individual fresh air conditioning systems, starts at 65 Swiss francs. Six of the sleeping pods are unobstructed, while one sleeping pod has been designed to be wheelchair accessible. Meeting rooms, a small wellness area, co-working spaces and a bar where guests can also enjoy breakfast are available to guests as well.
For the interior design of the hotel, capsule hotel cooperated with the Swiss nature photographer Fabio Zingg. His images set the tone of an Alpine Garden theme for the sleeping pods and public areas in the hotel. According to Zingg, his aim in designing this innovative hotel was to bring the guests closer to the most beautiful aspects of Swiss nature, while at the same time giving them an unforgettable experience.
Flughafen Zürich AG, the owner and operator of Zurich Airport, is also pleased with the opening of the new capsule hotel. “The capsule hotel directly opposite Check-in 1 ideally complements the existing accommodation options at the airport”, explains Lydia Naef, Head of Property & Portfolio Management at Flughafen Zürich AG, in the press release. Peter Schiffhauer, VRP capsule services AG, is confident that “the unique design concept, vibe and overnight prices starting from just 65 Swiss francs” will meet the needs of national and international guests.
