Baumer is expanding its Frauenfeld site with the addition of a development center. The company is investing 20 million Swiss francs in its new innovation center. Spanning 5,000 square meters, there will be space for around 120 employees. According to a press release, teams are expected to move in during late summer in 2023.
This is the second time in a few years that Baumer is investing in its innovative strength after constructing the new High-Tech Center in the southern German town of Stockach in 2018. According to the press release, the company’s central position between the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, the University of Konstanz, and the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST) makes it “optimally located”. Dr. Oliver Vietze, CEO of the company based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, states: “The new building will enable us to expand our development capacities at headquarters in order to strengthen our position as an innovation driver.”
The innovation center is intended to be a showcase project for sustainability and energy efficiency. A complete solar shell has been designed to generate electricity. Ground probes and heat pumps will control the building’s temperature. Baumer will obtain additional carbon-neutral electricity from Swiss hydroelectric plants.
