Following a year of construction work, AMAG opened its new chassis and paint center in Lupfig in the canton of Aargau on May 2. Damaged vehicles arriving at the vehicle logistics center are repaired in the space previously rented out to third parties. It is operated by mobilog, AMAG’s competence center for vehicle and parts logistics.
As AMAG writes in a press release, various new technologies are used at the new chassis and paint center that help the company to achieve its sustainability and climate goals. For example, the temperature required for drying the paint can be reduced by half through heat recovery processes in the paint booths. In addition, by applying a special pre-treatment to fixtures, personnel, material and time costs can all be reduced. A fully automated paint mixing system also contributes to sustainability.
According to AMAG, the reduction in energy consumption saves around 35 tons of CO2 per year, while biogas is used to heat the new center. One of the company’s eleven current photovoltaic systems is installed on the roof. Generating up to 176,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, 80 to 90 percent of the company’s own energy consumption requirements can be covered in this way.
