Pilatus seeking to expand presence in the USA

Pilatus has agreed a deal to acquire Skytech Inc., a sales and service center that has been a partner of the Nidwalden-based aircraft manufacturer over many years. This takeover is an attempt by Pilatus to guarantee the quality of the services it provides.

As has been the case up to now, Skytech will be responsible for sales of the Pilatus PC-24 and PC-12 models on the East Coast, as well as the aircraft sales of other manufacturers.

Pilatus has agreed a takeover deal for Skytech Inc. with its two headquarters in Baltimore and Rock Hill in the US States of Maryland and South Carolina respectively. The sales and service center will continue to be operated as an independent firm in future and both headquarters will be retained, while the company’s 120 employees will also be kept on. The succession planning by Skytech founder and owner, John Foster, provides the context to this takeover deal, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by Pilatus.

CEO Justin Lazzeri will continue to manage the company moving forwards. As has been the case up to now, Skytech will be responsible for sales of the Pilatus PC-24 and PC-12 models on the East Coast, as well as the aircraft sales of other manufacturers. With the acquisition of Skytech, Pilatus is aiming “to ensure and further improve the continuity and quality of its award-winning customer services on the East Coast of the USA”, the company explains in the press release. Pilatus CEO Markus Bucher adds: “The US market is very important for us. It is essential that Pilatus continues to expand its footprint”.

The company has had a subsidiary in the USA, which is based in the State of Colorado, for 26 years already. It acts as general importer for the markets in North and South America. In addition, it is responsible for managing the authorized sales and service center network, marketing and final assembly.
