Thömus and maxon to launch super lightweight e-mountain bike

The bike manufacturer Thömus is launching a super lightweight cross-country e-mountain bike on the market. The Lightrider E Ultimate weighs less than 15 kilograms thanks to an ultra-light carbon frame and the small but efficient Bikedrive Air motor from maxon.

Thömus, the bike manufacturer from Niederscherli in the canton of Bern, is launching the world’s first full-suspension cross-country e-mountain bike weighing under 15 kilograms, further details of which can be found in a press release. According to the information, this has been made possible by the partnership with maxon, the motor specialist from Sachseln in the canton of Obwalden, which was originally agreed in 2021. The company’s small, highly efficient Bikedrive Air motor is invisibly installed by Thömus in a particularly lightweight Ultra High Modulus carbon frame.

According to the press release, the Lightrider E Ultimate is heavily based on the Thömus Lightrider bike used by the top riders of the Thömus maxon Swiss Mountain Bike Racing Team for World Cup racing.

“We developed the Lightrider E Ultimate in close collaboration with maxon and our world cup team, and received sensational feedback from training rides with regard to the ride sensation and its light weight”, comments Thomas Binggeli, CEO and owner of Thömus, in the press release. As he underlines, however, the new e-bike has by no means been conceived with only professional athletes in mind. Pre-orders for the e-mountain bike can be placed as of now.
