The trade journal “inspect” has awarded the AX Smart Cameras developed by Baumer second place in the Vision category of the inspect award 2022. In so doing, “inspect” readers have voted the devices manufactured by the sensor technology specialist from the St.GallenBodenseeArea as one of the best innovations in the area of image processing in industrial environments, further details of which can be found in a press release.
According to the press release, the simple implementation of the cameras is a particularly impressive feature. The devices are freely programmable and enable quick and inexpensive development of individual image processing and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. The Baumer developers placed great importance on aspects such as performance, simplicity and flexibility, with the aim of reducing costs and removing integration obstacles.
“The integration of camera, image processing and lighting controller simplifies the system design. Users thus get a fast and simple solution for AI and image processing in an industrial environment”, explains Peter Felber, Product Manager at Baumer, in the press release.
Furthermore, the use of familiar standard technologies such as Linux, GenICam and NVIDIA Jetson helps users to implement their own image processing solutions in the shortest possible time. The AX Smart Cameras combine NVIDIA Jetson AI modules and Sony CMOS sensors into an image processing platform for vision-at-the-edge and AI applications.
