GWF MessSysteme AG is expanding its headquarters located on Obergrundstrasse in Lucerne. The manufacturing company, which has been based in Lucerne since 1899, has grown from 130 to 250 employees over the past seven years, further details of which can be found in a press release. “In 2018, we already made important investments in the future of our Swiss production with new testing facilities”, comments Florian Strasser, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GWF, in the press release. “We are particularly pleased that we can now further expand our manufacturing capacity at our founding location”, he concludes.
Due to an initial lack of expansion options at the existing location, GWF had already been looking around for a potential new site in Central Switzerland. Ultimately, however, the company was able to purchase an adjacent plot of land including an existing building from REKAG. The Lucerne-based construction engineer has found a location in Kriens in the canton of Lucerne that is more suitable for its own needs.
Sacha Fessler, Head of Production at GWF in Lucerne, concedes in the press release that there had been “concerns among the workforce” that production activities would be relocated away from the city of Lucerne. “The fact that it is now possible to send out such a clear signal for Lucerne as a location makes us all very happy”, he adds.
Once the upcoming conversion and renovation work is completed, GWF intends to use the new space immediately. “The importance of precise measurement and data-based management of water and energy consumption is coming into even sharper focus due to climate change and geopolitical dependencies”, Florian Strasser explains. He adds that GWF is in a position to make a significant contribution to this with its “made in Lucerne” technologies and solutions.
