The financial year 2022 was “very successful” for Pilatus, according to a press release from the aircraft manufacturer based in the canton of Nidwalden. The company recorded one of its best years to date, with sales of 1.3 billion Swiss francs, operating income of 226 million Swiss francs, and orders worth a total of 1.6 billion Swiss francs. CEO Markus Bucher commented in the press release: “Pilatus has achieved a lot whilst also benefitting from exceptionally high demand for our unique aircraft.”
The company has responded to the high level of demand by expanding its capacities. Pilatus has announced that construction will start on a maintenance work hall in Buochs in the middle of this year. It also plans to construct a new building for the production of composite components in Ennetbürgen. The aircraft manufacturer sees the investments in Nidwalden as “further proof that Pilatus remains firmly committed to Switzerland as a centre for ideas, work and training”.
Last year, Pilatus delivered 40 PC-24, 80 PC-12 NGX, ten PC-21, and three PC-6 machines to its clients. Hansueli Loosli, Chairman of the Board of Directors, added: “Our PC-12 NGXs and PC-24s were, and are, absolute bestsellers, our order books are full.”
According to another press release, in February Pilatus delivered the tenth PC-24 Super Versatile to Jetfly, a Luxembourg-based aircraft part-ownership provider. Jetfly’s CEO Cédric Lescop commented there: “Since adding the first PC-24 to our fleet in 2018, we have seen more and more customers wanting to fly with this amazingly spacious, versatile jet.”
