Bachem has signed a new framework agreement to supply peptides with a committed order volume of over 500 million Swiss francs, according to a press release issued by the pharmaceutical supplier specializing in peptides and oligonucleotides. The agreement, which will run from 2027 to 2031, is designed to build on a joint development project by the two partners, the press release explains further. The two partners have agreed not to disclose additional details, with a particular emphasis in this regard on maintaining customer confidentiality.

Bachem intends to manufacture the peptides at the major production facility currently under construction in Bubendorf in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. “I am pleased that with this new and important development and supply agreement, we can further diversify our portfolio of long-term customer projects”, comments Thomas Meier, CEO of Bachem, in the press release. The cooperation agreement features a committed volume in excess of 500 million Swiss francs in addition to offering significant upside potential as well.

“We are currently addressing the growing global demand for peptide production capacities with an extensive investment program”, Meier explains. The new facility at the Bubendorf headquarters will go into operation next year and double the production capacity of Bachem at this site. In addition, the globally active group is to construct a third Swiss location in Eiken in the canton of Aargau at some point in the next few years. Furthermore, Bachem is also set to invest in the expansion of its capacities at the Vionnaz site in the canton of Valais, the Torrance and Vista locations in the USA and St. Helens in the UK.
