St.Gallen drones able to drop off lab samples at windows

Jedsy has developed a drone that is able to dock outside windows. This is now being tested by the Dr. Risch laboratory group with a view to transporting lab samples. Moreover, the drone has already been used to deliver medication in Malawi.

The start-up Jedsy (Delivery Glider AG) from Berneck in the canton of St.Gallen has developed an innovative drone that is able to dock outside of windows and balconies. As such, it can be loaded and unloaded within a matter of seconds. In addition, it is characterized by its low noise level compared with conventional multicopters.

In December, Jedsy signed up to take part in a joint pilot project with the Liechtenstein-based laboratory group Dr. Risch, according to a press release. As part of this, the Jedsy drones are transporting lab samples for Dr. Risch. The Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) has approved the first flight path from the lab in Vaduz to the lab based in Buchs in the canton of St.Gallen.

Jedsy drones have already been used in Africa. “With the new drone, we have already gained significant flight experience in Malawi, where over 5,000 flights have been conducted as part of the UNICEF drone corridor”, comments Herbert Weirather, CEO of Jedsy, in the press release. In Malawi, the drones developed in the canton of St.Gallen are used to deliver critical medicines to health centers. Jedsy signed an agreement along these lines with the local health authority at the back end of last year.  ssp
