When goods packed in wood are imported from abroad, Brazil accepts only packaging that was treated in accordance with ISPM-15 or a similar standard, i.e. bears an IPPC label. Since February 1, 2016, it must now be indicated on the bill of lading or in the shipping instructions whether goods are being transported in wood packaging, the types of wood packaging involved, and whether these had been primarily treated pursuant to ISPM-15 or a similar standard.
