Geneva will host SWIFT’s SIBOS conference in September 2016.

Geneva is one of the most important financial centers worldwide. The financial sector generates 37,000 jobs and accounts for 17% of Geneva's GDP. The city is a global hub for wealth management, commodity trading and retail banking.

The Geneva Financial Centre (GFC) and the cantonal authorities are collaborating to enhance the FinTech sector in the canton of Geneva, as well as to support the development of new services and technologies in the field.

Next month Geneva will host Sibos, one of the most prestigious financial events in the world. “Switzerland has the potential to emerge as an innovation driver particularly in the FinTech branch due to the presence of global banks and a highly competitive IT infrastructure”, said Geneva’s Minister of Economic Affairs Pierre Maudet in an interview with Sibos TV. “New players have also appeared and the digital revolution requires additional attention from the authorities in order to preserve jobs and competences as well as to remain at the forefront of innovation. Sibos thus brings several opportunities to the Fintech industry”.
