The cable specialist Huber+Suhner has modernised its 'Mühle' production site for injection moulding in Herisau. The current 'Tiefe' site will be sold off to an industrial company.

“We were faced with the decision to invest in the future of this area or stop injection moulding production entirely,” said Urs Ryffel, who takes over as CEO of Huber+Suhner on 1 April.

According to a company statement, Huber+Suhner has invested “an amount in the mid-single-digit million range” into its Mühle site in Herisau to bolster its expertise in injection moulding and renew part of its machine pool.

The upgraded production infrastructure is designed to enable mass production of complex parts that meet extremely strict tolerances, which Huber+Suhner manufactures for the communication and industrial markets, as well as the automotive industry.

The new location brings a number of advantages. For example, raw materials can now be supplied centrally for the cable and injection moulding areas. Other internal processes have also been further optimised here.
