As part of the Tri-innova project, Bricks Group AG is keen to create a new centre for R&D on the Chuenimattareal site. Covering an area of up to 30,000 square metres, the plans also call for a shared office facility, office space for startups, an auditorium and a meeting room.
The premises will be marketed both in Switzerland and abroad and will be supported by Economic Development Baselland and BaselArea.Swiss. The focus is on the pharmaceutical, chemical and health sectors, but companies from the IT and software industries will also be sought.
“We’re aiming for an intelligent mix of users and a cluster formation in an effort to achieve a mutually fruitful ecosystem, and to revitalise the area through appropriate ground-floor use,” the Construction and Environmental Protection Department of the canton of Basel-Landschaft wrote in a statement. The canton sold the Chuenimattareal site to Bricks Group AG.
The site will be expanded in three stages, and completion of the first stage is planned for the end of 2019.
