Richemont opens a Research and Innovation Center in Neuchâtel

Based within the Microcity pole, the new center serves as an innovation incubator for the luxury group, and promotes knowledge and experience sharing between its Maisons.

Microcity in Neuchâtel
The canton of Neuchâtel has a unique expertise along the innovation chain in all things related to the infinitely precise.

To respond to the ever-changing technological context, Richemont and Microcity teamed up to create a Research and Innovation Center. As of April 2017, thirty researchers are based at Microcity, a pole for scientific and academic excellence dedicated to infinite precision and advanced manufacturing technologies. They work towards greater efficiency, innovation and creativity. According to a joint press release, twenty engineers specialized in micro-systems, micro-manufacturing and micro-engineering will be newly recruited in 2018.

The Richemont group – which owns high-end jewelry, watchmaking and writing instruments brands such as Cartier, Piaget and Montblanc – is a leading employer in Switzerland, where nearly a third of its staff is located. The canton of Neuchâtel is home to a significant part of the group’s manufacturing activities. Through this partnership, Richemont will become fully integrated within the canton’s world-class industrial and academic ecosystem.
