Zurich to become a technology hub

HackZurich, Europe’s largest programming marathon, is set to take place again in Zurich in 2016. The goal is to establish Zurich as a technology and innovation hub in Europe.

Zurich to become a technology hub

The newly created Digital Festival will be held in Zurich from 15 to 18 September. Switzerland’s newest flagship tech festival will offer major companies, start-ups and innovators a platform that encourages an exchange of ideas, provides workshops and attracts technical talent from across Europe. It will also help transform Zurich into one of the largest technology and innovation hubs in Europe.

The goal for Zurich comes on the heels of several HackZurich events already held in Zurich. It calls itself the largest hack-a-thon in Europe with over 500 participants and 125 developed prototypes, financed by sponsors from around the world. This year HackZurich will be integrated into the Digital Festival 2016. The latter will consist of several parts: first, inspiring speakers will present on subjects such as innovation and creativity. Then “Transformers Day” will focus on transferring knowledge from the technology world into the business one. Finally, start-ups will be given the opportunity to share their business models. Parallel to this will be the HackZurich, attended by over 500 programmers.
