Fact-Finding Mission
Medtech Brazil

Postponed // The brazilian medtech market opportunities

Postponed until further notice due to coronavirus

The health of our customers, partners and employees is a top priority for Switzerland Global Enterprise. The number of coronavirus cases is increasing and is affecting our activities in Switzerland and worldwide. The Executive Committee of Switzerland Global Enterprise have therefore decided to postpone this mission.

Switzerland Global Enterprise and the Swiss Business Hub Brazil are organizing for Swiss and Liechtenstein Medtech entrepreneurs, a Fact-Finding Mission to Brazil from May 13 - 21, 2020.

Who should participate and why?

This mission is for all those who are keen on strengthening their knowledge on the Brazilian Medtech market and the numerous business opportunities it offers. It is also for those who aim at strengthening their local network and enhance the position of already existing operations in the country.

The extensive program will give the perfect opportunity for companies interested in the Brazilian market to evaluate how to introduce its products and how to combine the Swiss innovation to the local demands.

What to expect from this mission to Brazil?

  • 5 days of meetings with major players from the Brazilian Health sector from health operators and managers to hospitals, both in private and public sectors
  • Introdutory information on the market dynamics
  • Visits to key health facilities and major hospitals
  • Visit to health innovation centers to evaluate possibilities of cooperation and market entrance
  • Networking events with local business community, health experts, industry associations, potential distributors, clients and/or partners.
  • Vist to Hospitalar, the most important trade show of Latin America
  • Experience the diversity of the country at an industry-focused agenda within a multi-city program
  • If you have existing contacts in Brazil, our team may contact them and invite 2-3 guests on your behalf for the networking events.
  • We will organize the whole agenda and logistics for you, including hotels and internal flights.
  • Our local experts from the Swiss Business Hub Brazil will accompany you during the program and provide local support whenever needed.

Why Brazil?

After the election of a new government in October 2018, Brazil is more open for business again and, this time, foreign companies will have the opportunity to showcase their experience, their know-how and their excellence. With a series of structural changes in the pipeline including a tax simplification and a pension reform, the new government aims to tackle the historic hurdles that prevented the Brazilian economy to grow freely. Despite the slow signs of economic recovery (GDP is expected to grow by 0.9% in 2019); these changes are setting a new and solid base upon which the companies can plan their entrance in this promising 200 million consumer market.

If the general economic conditions are improving in a slow pace, the health sector has never lost its attractiveness as it was one of the few bunisses that kept the growing curve during the past years.

Brazil has the 3rd largest healthcare market and the largest public healthcare system in the world. The healthcare expenses are US$140.7bn per year, which corresponds to 9.5% of the GDP, divided almost evently between public (45.2%) and private (54.8%). These expensives are expected to grow even further and are estimated to reach 25% of the GDP by 2035 as the Brazilian population is aging rapidly.

The numbers are impressive: 6.7k hospitals, 417k physicians, 438k hospital beds, 290k dentists. Alone for medical devices, Brazil gerates a revenue of US$4.86bn per year. Moreover, the country cannot supply all this locally. Brazil demands technology and innovation from abroad to keep pace with its ever growning internal healthcare sector.

As the economic outlook improves, the population tends to invest more money into their health. The time to approache this promising market in now, to set basis for the developments that are soon to come.
