In a recent Goldman Sachs research paper, economist Jim O'Neill has named Pakistan amongst one of the next eleven countries having a high potential of becoming part of the world's largest economies in the 21st century. This assumption is based on the promising outlooks for investment and future growth, stability, economic liberalization and privatization of public sector corporations. Pakistan has a population of 200 million people, the advantage of a demographic dividend (median age 24 years) and a steadily rising middle class. In 2017 Pakistan projects a GDP growth rate of better than 5%, which is expected to rise steadily in the coming years.
