TeCH Mex Event: Aerospace and Automotive manufacturing is booming in Mexico
Mexico is the tech growth market to watch for
Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE) in collaboration with the Mexican Embassy, Swissmem and the Swiss Aerospace Cluster invite you to the TeCH Mex event on October 23rd in Zurich. Secure your place now and benefit from an inspiring, hands-on experience sharing.
Automotive industry
The automotive industry and its parts manufacturing contribute to over 18% of Mexican GDP (2018, INA) reason enough for 21 automotive OEMs including GM, Nissan, FCA, Volkswagen/Audi, Ford, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Kia and BAIC to produce in 14 states. From 2000 – 2017 12% of the total Foreign Direct Investment or 60 billion USD were invested in the Mexican automotive industry.
Besides the broad OEM presence there is a 600 companies strong tier 1 industry. However the few companies present in the tier 2 sector open a strategic advantage for Swiss automotive suppliers to enter the market on their terms. (Rising local content requirements under the new USMCA might later lead to a market pull.)
Aerospace industry
Parts design and manufacturing as well as MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) for both commercial and military aircrafts keep over 300 aerospace companies in Mexico busy and evolving. This makes Mexico the 14th largest global aerospace supplier (intending to crack the top 10 by 2020)
What is in it for you?
The event offers a comprehensive overview of the current insights into the Mexican market. You can test your market entry theses and clarify critical questions with experienced market participants: How should you set foot in Mexico? Is it dangerous to work there as an expat? How do you find good personnel for a subsidiary? How do you make good connections to a qualified distribution partner? How can quality requirements be asserted or checked remotely? What do you need in order to successfully export your technology, products or know-how to Mexico? How can you prepare for a possible market pull?
Business opportunities
Due to size and growth projections of the automotive and aerospace industry in Mexico, Swiss exporters should make plans how they can get their share of the pie in this market.
The tech industry in Mexico has evolved away from just being a work bench. This includes obtaining more specialized equipment for advanced manufacturing, an important opportunity for the Swiss tools manufacturing industry. The Swiss brand is well-known for its high quality and innovation which is imperative for these tech industries, and the Mexican range of free trade agreements with 46 countries enable the country to grow its export and act as a hub with access to North- and South America.
The event will be rounded off with a networking aperitif, providing the ideal platform for exchanging ideas and making new business contacts.
Additionally, our country specialists from Mexico and from Switzerland will be available for free-of-charge, individual consultation sessions prior to the event. You can book your appointment by registering for the Event.
