UK/Ireland Food Buyers Mission to Switzerland
Buyer Mission of UK and Ireland buyers to Switzerland, dedicated to convenience food and healthy snacking
S-GE and the Swiss Business Hub UK and Ireland invited buyers from UK and Ireland retailers to visit Switzerland and meet Swiss food producers and brands. During individual B2B meetings, the Swiss companies will have the opportunity to present their products and discuss opportunities with the buyers from UK and Ireland.
Pace of life and changing eating habits are pushing consumers to skip meals and grab snacks on the go but British people are shunning crisps in favour of lower-calorie, nutritious options e.g. traditional potato crisp sales dropped 10% in the past year (Mintel).
Savoury snacks are growing at 20% according to Susan Nash, trade communications manager at Mondelez.
Lower fat, better for you, allergen free, protein enriched snacks have a big market. Sweet snacking foods are also an opportunity – Fruits, fruit and nut, sweet popcorn, Nim’s and Emily’s fruit crisps and more.
The free-from market is forecast to hit £531m by the end of 2017 (Mintel) found: “One in three UK consumers who buy gluten-free foods say they want to see more on-the-go snack items,” says Emma Sayers, PR Manager for Primal Pantry. Gluten free and dairy free foods are options in most categories.
The following companies have confirmed their participation so far:
Selfridges
Simply Fresh
Applegreen
Cotswold Fayre
