Asia’s middle-class population was 550 million in 2009. By 2030 this figure will have risen to 3.2 billion, resulting in an unprecedented and tectonic shift of economic power from the West to the East. Whilst Asian economies continue to expand, growth in Europe is stagnant. With populist governments at the helm, can Europe recover itself and maintain a position on the World stage?
Lord Green served as UK Minister of State for Trade & Investment under the former British coalition government. He was also Group Chairman of HSBC and is now Chairman at Asia House in London. In this talk, he reveals remarkable insight on Britain’s future relationship with Europe, Europe’s wider role in the world, and how the rise of Asia is changing the way we do business.
