Seminar cheese market in Brazil

Market entry and regulatory aspects

After the election of a new government, Brazil is open for business again and this time the Swiss cheese manufactures will have the opportunity to show their excellency. The Brazilian Minister of Agriculture has recently included a large number of Swiss producers in the eligible list to export dairy products for the country, opening the way to this promising market.

With 1,200 tons of volume in 2017 and sales of BRL 21.6 billion (CHF 5.7 billion), the Brazilian cheese market reengaged growth after the long economic crisis of the last years. The 208 million consumers in the country are eager for quality products and, taking into consideration the low 5.5 kilos average consumption per year, there is a considerable margin for sales growth. As the economic outlook improves, the consumers tend to have more disposable income for imported goods and Swiss cheese is already perceived as premium quality.
Switzerland Global Enterprise and Swiss Cheese Marketing, in cooperation with SECO and Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office, invite interested companies to know more about the potentialities of the Brazilian market and to understand the regulatory issues concerning the export procedures.
