Webinar: MEM industry - exporting to Russia

How Swiss suppliers deal correctly with Russian state-owned companies

Swiss MEM companies export around one percent of their total volume to Russia. Good relations with Russian state-owned companies are essential for this; the state is co-owner of numerous MEM companies. In our webinar, we talk to Mikhail Yakovets, Honorary Consul of Switzerland in Novosibirsk, among others, about how Swiss suppliers can set these up and what they really need to pay attention to. As director of Fischer Spindle Technology in Novosibirsk, he knows exactly what is important.

The public sector has a central role in Russia. The state owns a substantial share of companies in key sectors, including the MEM area. Large state-owned companies or companies with close relations to the state are thus very important for the Russian economy on the one hand, and on the other hand they make up a significant part of the potential customers for many foreign SMEs - including Swiss suppliers. This makes it all the more important to establish close contact with Russian state-owned companies.

Tips for Swiss suppliers
Successful exports depend on a precise analysis of the potential customers. And good first contact is just as important for Swiss suppliers as knowing the demanding bureaucracy of state-run operations. Make the authorities your friend, not your enemy. Stay persistent when promoting your products and services. And highlight your advantages such as quality, state-of-the-art technology, reliability and flexibility.

Webinar: the right way to deal with Russian state-owned companies
Mikhail Yakovets will provide you with further valuable tips. In Novosibirsk, he is the Honorary Consul of Switzerland and manages Fischer Spindle Technology. His company is primarily active in the aviation sector; and the state is a co-owner in almost all relevant companies here. In our webinar, he shares his experiences and reveals how Swiss MEM SMEs can do business with these disparate partners.
